Garlic Honey Butter Shrimp coming right up to change your life. Have you ever made something and it turned out different but in a good way? much better than you even imagined it would be? This recipe was exactly like that. It’s really easy to make but has such a yummy burst of flavour. It’s the perfect appetizer and if you really love it, scale up and make it an entree.

Growing up I loved pepper shrimp. It’s a local roadside delicacy here in Jamaica and it’s really spicy and packed with flavour. I remember having them on my way home from school or whenever we were on our way to the country side. It’s interesting because this recipe took me back to those days and brought back fond memories. For that I am grateful and I will likely make this recipe time and time again.

How to make Garlic Honey Butter Shrimp?

Garlic Honey Butter Shrimp

There are a lot of honey garlic recipes out there and a lot of them are also on my blog. It’s not surprising because who doesn’t love garlic and honey? it’s a match made in heaven. Taking two things that you love is always a good start to any recipe as you’re half way there to liking it.

Quickly rinse your shrimp with water and a little lime juice or vinegar. Make sure to properly dry the shrimp with a paper towel to get rid of any excess water. This is such a crucial step to seasoning meat or seafood to ensure it marinates well. Season the shrimp with salt and other dry seasonings and set aside to prepare your flour mixture.

Combine flour, corn starch, pepper and the same spices used for the shrimp. It’s important to properly season the coating as that will be your first taste of flavour. There is nothing worst than boring fried food, all crunch but no flavour.

This Garlic Honey Butter Shrimp has three layers of flavour. Garlic honey sauce on the outside, seasoned crunch beneath and a burst of flavour from the shrimp on the inside. Once your oil is ready its a simple process. Coat shrimp in flour mixture, shake excess flour, fry until golden brown then sauce it up with that garlic honey butter.

A side with main dish energy!

I created this recipe with a snack in mind, an appetizer to keep me going until the main course. Something friends can love to snack on while we chat and wait for food to be ready. However sometimes thats not enough. Once I had this I knew I should’ve made more and since then its been a main dish for me. I’ve had this with tortillas for a taco or a serving of hot jasmine rice and it hits the spot every single time.

I cant wait for you to enjoy my Garlic Honey Butter Shrimp recipe as much as I have. So let’s get cooking!
