One of my absolute favourite sauce is honey garlic. Any food or recipe with garlic and honey has me hooked. It’s so simple yet really flavourful which is all a girl could ask for. You’ll find a few recipes on my site with honey garlic sauce because it’s so delicious and transformative. The newest addition is Honey Garlic Chicken and Broccoli.

Whenever I feel strapped for time, or want to transform a bland meal, this is my go to sauce. I use this so often in my meal rotation that I always have honey on hand. Garlic is a definite, that’s a staple in my kitchen but honey is a little harder to keep. Honey is really expensive in Jamaica so you find yourself using it lightly. This sauce however has me going overboard on that honey.

Let’s talk Honey Garlic Chicken and Broccoli.

Chicken and broccoli is a popular dish at most Chinese restaurants. With my love for Chinese it’s not surprising that I was inspired by that. I had a head of broccoli that was about to go bad and a couple boneless skinless chicken breasts. I needed to make lunch really quickly but the two on its own seemed boring. That’s when I decided to really bring it to life with my go to honey and garlic sauce.

I don’t have the right words to tell you how yummy this was. I sat on my video call with the camera off happily eating away. You’ll find that a lot of my recipes are based on efficiency because I’m always juggling a lot. Unless it’s the weekend with a little more free time you just want your food as quickly as possible.

Key Ingredients for Honey Garlic Chicken and Broccoli

I did mention that the sauce is key so let’s start there. Garlic, you can’t go wrong with garlic, I can’t imagine cooking without it. Honey honey honey is what really brings everything together and balances the flavours. Scotch bonnet pepper your girl loves the heat, soy sauce which adds great flavor, colour and saltiness. Vegetable oil and corn starch to get the sauce nice and thick.

Chicken breast or thighs would be really good and flavourful too. You could consider swapping out the chicken for fish or shrimp or any of your favourite protein. The sauce is the star.
